- Sounds of My Writings: Where is your Sackcloth
In a week of triumphant festivities where deliverance and eternal life is promised - it is hard to gather any victory shout without first reviewing and revisiting our broken cries. Our pride, our hatred, our biases, and even our sins had put to death the Son of the living God. We pierced him, hurt him, beat him, and mocked the King of kings. He came dressed in humility, and not in human beauty to save a people whose hearts were callused and drunk with bitterness. It took a loving God, to defeat evil. It took a human lamb to give His life to forgive all sins. It took God’s best to defeat man’s worst. It took a prince full of peace to combat the armies of war. It took a forgiving God, to offer us mercy. Where is your sackcloth? John 13:1-5 1 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. 2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: No Room
There was a day when heaven came down to earth, and the Son of God came in the innocence of an infant boy child. His first introduction to the world he had created, and for which he so desired to intervene - and leap from his mother’s womb was the cold announcement “there is no room for you”. When you, and I carry the Gospel message to a world whose doors are closed to the truth of our loving Savior we will find in many instances that the community we so desire to help and serve has the room of their hearts already preoccupied. Don’t worry, and rejoice for we have been purposed as spiritual nomads to passionately occupy the rooms of heaven and not the palaces on earth. In this season God is loosening the knots of everything that binds us to this world. Let go, let God and be free! John 14:1-4 1 Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Under Fire
In the Christian life, the Lord promises to baptize every believer by water, and by fire. The baptism of water has to do with the public announcement of our renewed faith, and life in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. Like taking a shower every day, this public symbolism reveals how God’s truth (Word) continually washes us of our moral errors as we repent. The baptism of fire, in the other hand, has to do with the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This baptism promises that God himself will take residence in a person’s life, and transform the old sinful nature to one which reflects His image and likeness. This inner washing or working can not be performed with water, but rather with fire. In Gods eyes, being filled with the Holy Spirit is more than an endowment of power, but an inner working of His consuming fire which burns away any moral impurities still found in our character. During this time, you and I may feel that we are in the furnace. But, hold on - you and I will come out of this pure, spotless, and shining like Gold. Matthew 3:11-12 11“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with c the Holy Spirit and fire. 12His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Don’t Overthink, Keep Treading
It is easy to practice the ideologies of rhyme and reason (humanism) as we drag our feet through the obstacles of life, or if we are running the summit race of personal achievements or accolades. Being human is easy, it really doesn’t take much to do what everyone else is doing (rat race), or simply going with the flow. But, I remind you that you are more than just a jar of clay molded into society. You are rather a spirit being who has been designed in the image and likeness of God with an eternal purpose and destiny. Everything in this journey of faith does not require that it makes sense in order to believe. Faith is not the substance of things reasoned, but rather the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not YET seen. Don’t abort or shipwreck your faith in God because you don’t understand. Simply believe in the integrity of God’s Word (Jesus) and trust in his perfect integrity. Keep treading! Hebrew 11:1-6 1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. 2 This is what the ancients were commended for. 3 By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. 4 By faith, Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith, he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. 5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. 6 And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: A Time to Reset
Like an old computer which struggles to stream live information, or a hard drive that needs to be erased because of a virus. We as people are entering a season of resetting. A season when old methods, old norms, and old ways of doing things will no longer work. Whenever God desires to stretch us, change us, or redirect us - our primary instinct is to return to those things which bring us a sense of comfort, and normality. Even though these seasons of life are tough - I encourage you to let go of your old habits. Avoid unnecessary struggles, do not defy what God is trying to do, and trust that He is going to create a new you. Gone with the old, and in with the new. God is resetting everything! Philippians 3:13-14 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Prudence
From an unprecedented time in American history where millions of lives have been quarantined for weeks from a deadly virus - to the reality that there is a greater danger lurking at the crossroads of our countries economy. Many lives are having to make some very important decisions on what they will be doing in the coming weeks in regards to health, and money. I would never like to underestimate the challenges facing every beloved citizen of this world by providing what would seem like a simple solution to this grandeur scenario. But, one thing is for sure that you and I must walk in divine discernment, and covering. May every one of my beloved friends, and family have a wise plan - but may God order your footsteps. Be prudent beloved! Proverbs 16:17-22 17 The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives. 18 Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. 19 Better to be lowly in spirit along with the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud. 20 Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. 21 The wise in heart are called discerning, and gracious words promote instruction. 22 Prudence is a fountain of life to the prudent, but folly brings punishment to fools. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Good but Not God
To often I have witnessed in every level of ministry, secular life, and even in the top of the workforce - some of the most wonderful deeds being performed by earth’s finest people. These individuals are the most optimist, well respected, well to do citizens who are always looking to offer a helping hand. They feed the hungry, clean communities, offer jobs, cloth the homeless, and even save lives. But, for some unfortunate reason, their hearts are callused and dwarfed by unbelief - in the only God who has richly blessed them. Yes, their hands will never grow idle, but what they have touched has become their only idol. Random acts of kindness have a place in the human heart. But, nothing can replace the love and presence of a living God in the human soul. Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God 9 not by works so that no one can boast. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Who to believe
In the past few weeks, it’s been evident that everyone from kings to priests is facing the realities of this Global Pandemic. This micro-virus has literally turned the world upside down and is running havoc in every corner of the world's financial institutions. While many are waiting, and others are resting in God’s protection it is evident that conflicting opinions are running rapidly. Everything from stimulus packages, conspiracy theories, to the turning of the COVID curve, and prophetic omens are beginning to confuse so many. So what do you, and I do in times like this? The answer; know God’s prophetic Word, and His Voice! This is what I am willing to tell you: Idols are falling, the ancient ruins of our Christian faith and values are just beginning to sprout, and God is just beginning to reveal every hidden motive in men’s hearts. If you are a child of faith anchor yourself not in signs and wonders, but solely in His Word. 1 Kings 22:19-23 12 All the other prophets were prophesying the same thing. “Attack Ramoth Gilead and be victorious,” they said, “for the Lord will give it into the king’s hand.” 13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, “Look, the other prophets without exception are predicting success for the king. Let your word agree with theirs, and speak favorably.” 14 But Micaiah said, “As surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what the Lord tells me.” #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Surgery of the Heart
During this wonderful week of Passover over 2000 years ago, a special dinner was performed at a house that had just witnessed one of the greatest miracles in human history - a man Lazarus was resurrected from the dead. At this time a woman named Martha gave her best by honoring Christ with a glorious dinner. Lazarus gave his best by reclining at the table to marvel at the Messiah. Mary gave her best by pouring very expensive perfume on the feet of her Savior and wiping it with her glory (hair). Judas gave his best by uttering seductive words to lure his hand into the money bag. The Jews gave their best by becoming believers of the coming new promises. And, The Pharisees gave their best by desiring to kill Lazarus, and Christ himself. What is your best, reveals what is in your heart. Check yourself this Passover week! John 12:1-6 1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus’ feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” 6 He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it....... #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Reflections: Turn Back
From the moment angels, and men have Worshiped on altars built and modeled with their own hands, and have turned the hearts of my people to worship sounds that are pleasing to their own ears and not my heart - I have left the sanctuary. For there is a deception found - for which they have not taken notice - in their own self-righteous acts. For their images have been exalted, and now have taken residence in their hearts - my place of rest. Turn back to me saith the Lord, and I will hear and answer you. #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Old Wine Skin
Whenever the Lord is about to do something new in a corporate body or an individual it is important to have the humility, and willingness to adapt to change. Change is usually not easy for anyone, but it is necessary for the sustainability and success of any project or ministry. There is, in everyone’s life, a sea of discarded dreams, ideas, and creativity because when new ideas collide with the old patterns of others it becomes stagnant and breathless. Sometimes it’s better to start your God-given idea on a new slate. It takes more work unlearning, undoing, and erasing than simply drawing! Matthew 9:16-17 16 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. 17 Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
- Sounds of My Writings: Perspective is Important
How we view a matter is important, and detrimental to all of our failures and successes. Many of our perspectives are influenced by cultures, experiences, studies, and even family traditions. Sometimes even our personal blind spots can get in the way of simple love, and hate relationships. Even though at times it is healthy to maintain certain healthy trends, this does not equate that you, and I are living God’s best for our lives. The Lord always has away, to take those things which may seem foolish, and weak to the world to confound the “wise”. Matthew 5:3-12 3“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. #soundsofmywritings #andyfernandez #iamministries
