The “hustle”, the “rat race”, whatever it takes to “get yours”, and your belly full! We are living in a generation when honor, respect, values, and Godly truth are a “coin toss” away. Like Judas, a man possessing all that Christ came to offer him and his family, he sold his “eternal inheritance” for thirty shekels of silver. He forfeited his apostleship, his friendship, and his reputation for a few months wages.

Esau, the strong and valiant hunter who was the firstborn of his family, sold his “firstborn inheritance” for a bowl of lentil soup. Where was his spiritual spine and fortitude? A man full of “appetite” yet “potential”, who was loved by his father, morally fainted at the need for physical gratification.

Don’t forfeit the priceless promise of salvation, and sonship for a coin or bowl of soup!

Genesis 25:29-34

29 Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. 30 He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew! I’m famished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.) 31 Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.”

32 “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” 33 But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.” So he swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. 34 Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright.

The “secret place” is where your relationship with Christ is defined. It is the place where sermons are birthed, where worship is found, where vision is clear, where tears are shed, where God’s voice is loud, where prayers are heard, where your sonship becomes real. Invite God to your secret place. Don’t leave him at the public altar.
